California Social Work License

There is only one social work license in California, a LCSW, which requires an
MSW from an accredited social work program. **California does not require
a license to be employed as a social worker.

Did you fail the California Law and Ethics Exam?

Applicants who fail the California Law and Ethics Exam must obtain at least 12 hours of additional law and ethics coursework before they can apply to retake the exam.
