In honor of Social Work Month and Women’s History Month, join Congressmember Karen Bass and State Senator Holly Mitchell for a master class on social work. Congressmember Bass earned her MSW from the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work and is serving her 5th term for the 37th Congressional District, where she is chair for the Congressional Black Caucus, while Senator Holly Mitchell is representative of California’s 30th Senate District. Together, they will discuss politics, policy, and social justice, as well as share why social workers are at the heart of social change and representation in politics matters. Attendees will also learn about the federal/state legislative landscape and CA “resistance,” have their questions about engaging in electoral politics answered, and attend a Lobbying 101 session led by Senator Mitchell to prepare for NASW-CA Lobby Days on April 7-8 in Sacramento, CA.
