“The Hate U Give” offers a glimpse at the complexity of biased-based policing in communities of color. To recognize social work, this year’s Social Work Month theme “Elevate Social Work” embodies the extraordinary contributions of social workers in our society. To mark the end of this month, the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work is highlighting the partnership with law enforcement departments in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Countries in placing MSW graduate students who put theory into practice and assist in promoting trauma-informed practices within community policing. Participants at this event will receive strategies to engage in civil engagement and discourse by raising their consciousness about race and equity though community policing. The film screening will promote a conversation on ways social workers can reduce implicit biases within law enforcement and on a community level. RSVP at
