Course Title:
California Legal Standards for Professional Conduct
Stan Taubman, LCSW, PhD
Dr. Taubman will discuss the legal standards and requirements for a California LCSW license. He will focus on the legal scope of practice and standard of care while examining the legal standards for professional conduct. He will discuss important legal requirements related to advertising, recordkeeping, scope of competence, dual relationships, termination of therapy, and therapist disclosures to clients. He will also explore topics related to the potential results of unprofessional conduct, such as disciplinary actions, processing of ethics complaints, and civil liability. The primary objective of this presentation is to enable participants to effectively understand the California Board of Behavioral Science’s (BBS) standards of professional conduct that protect a practitioner’s license from suspension or revocation. Seating is limited to 12 participants to ensure sufficient time for discussion and questions.
