CEU’s (3 hours) provided in two sessions AM and PM aimed at helping professionals become AWARE and be able to IDENTIFY signs of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children.  The Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children: Awareness and Identification training will provide an overview of CSEC and the psychological and social dynamics that contribute to the ongoing maltreatment of children and victimization of young people by sex traffickers. Key laws addressing human trafficking, particularly relating to Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children will be reviewed. Factors influencing the supply and demand for CSEC will be reviewed as well as an understanding of how widespread this devastating problem is. The training will provide information on complex trauma with a focus on the life events and contributing factors that often lead to the sexual exploitation of a child. This event is NOT to be missed! Learning objectives:

1. Identify warning signs and indicators of CSEC involvement and recognize risks associated with children and youth in out-of-home placements.

2. Identify and strengthen protective factors to prevent youth from involvement in CSEC.

3. Understand the core elements of CSEC awareness, identification, intervention and referral for assessment and treatment.

4. Develop an understanding of CSEC’s needs from survivors’ perspective.
