The purpose of this workshop is to educate on the topic of self-harm and introduce you to some basic helping strategies. Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will be able to develop a clear understanding of what self-harm is and how it differs from suicidal behavior. 2. Participants will be able to explain the various reasons why people harm themselves. 3. Participants will be able to identify myths from facts regarding self-harm. Jennifer Johnson, MSW, LCSW, is a mental health therapist and instructor in the MSW program at CSU Stanislaus and a dynamic trainer. She coordinates the campus Peer Project, a mental health empowerment program designed to eliminate stigma and reduce student suicide risk. Jennifer will share her knowledge and experience working with clients who have engaged in self-harm behaviors.
