Online registration for the Symposium on Fairness and Equity Issues in Child Welfare Training and Education can be accessed from this link: This year's symposium -- Equity From the Start -- concerns equalizing developmental opportunities for children in the child welfare system during the critical period of early childhood. Equity from the Start is a concept with two intended meanings: (1) equity from the first contact between a family and the child welfare system; and (2) equity from the very start of life. The emphasis on young children brings together several current trends in child welfare education and practice: an integrated, interdisciplinary, and holistic approach to child well-being; reliance on culturally responsive, community-based services for families and children; and prevention. This year’s event highlights the importance of the early years in providing children in the child welfare system with equal opportunities for healthy and full development of their potential. Administrators, trainers, and educators in child welfare, partnering agencies, and related child-serving fields are welcome to attend. Feel free to circulate this announcement to staff and colleagues who may be interested. For additional information about the symposium, please visit:
