  5. This award honors a lifetime of excellence in social work accomplishments. Candidates must exhibit the following:
  6. Consistent demonstration of the six core values and ethical principles of social work: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.
  7. Repeated outstanding accomplishments
  8. Recognition beyond the social work profession
  9. Contributions of lasting impact
  10. Outstanding creativity
  11. NASW member in good standing
  12. Must also meet all the criteria of the Social Worker of the Year Award
  13. Current NASW elected officers and NASW staff are not eligible

 Local Unit or Regional Awards programs are "to be arranged" depending on the unit or region.  Contact regional or local unit leadership for more information.

The Statewide Awards Program takes place at the NASW Annual Conference held in the fall. The Conference alternates locations between northern and southern California as follows:

    • Fall 2019 Northern CA: Deadline April 30, 2019
    • Fall 2020 Southern CA: Deadline April 30, 2020
